I’ve been planning to rent gear from one of the several online retailers in the coming months for a few gigs I have lined up. During my research, BorrowLenses.com has consistently come up with positive reviews and competitive prices. Since I have not actually used their services yet, I can not give you a review at this time, but Jim Goldstein, of JMG-Galleries, just recently wrote up his review and I think it is worth the read.

For me, I’m most interested in trying out the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS. Typically, I would have gone with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L, but I’m pretty sure, at some point, I’ll rent (or even buy) that one. The 400mm lens is a specialty lens and something I don’t see myself renting anytime soon, so, I think it would be a treat to get my hands on and play with it’s capabilities. Who knows, maybe it’ll spark a whole knew category in my portfolio.
