FriendFeed Pushes to Twitter – How Noisey Will You Be?
FriendFeed announced today that you can now share your FriendFeed activity on Twitter. If you use Twitter and follow anyone that is also on FrienFeed, you are going to see a whole lot more noise coming your way. If you are on FrienFeed and thinking about utilizing this feature, please, for everyone else’s sanity, please take a moment to really think about what services you are going to crossover and how.
This feature is very new, so I’m not 100% sure yet how I’m going to use it, but I thought I’d share my first thoughts on how I am going to manage my activity and see how others compare or differ.
Currently, I use Ping.fm to post status updates to Twitter, FriendFeed and few other smaller sites. Since I set this up, I turned off my Twitter activity in FriendFeed. Most people on FriendFeed ignore Twitter post and I try to post anything I’d want to go to both with Ping.fm.
For now, I’ve decided to turn on the FriendFeed push to Twitter for only my blog post. Eventually, after playing and testing it a bit, I think I will implement the following two changes to my current setup:
- Turn on FriendFeed’s push to Twitter for FriendFeed post (not comments) and blog post only.
- Stop posting status updates to Twitter via Ping.fm and only post to FriendFeed. Anything posted to FriendFeed via Ping.fm will then be posted to Twitter via FriendFeed’s push.
The ONLY reason I would consider pushing FriendFeed comments is if I see a benefit in the ability to using Twitter’s @replies in my FriendFeed comments. That way, assuming the user is on both FriendFeed and Twitter with the same user name, they will receive my reply on both platforms. I’ll have to play around with this one and see how it goes.
