7th Avenue Station

7th Avenue Station by Justin Korn

Description:  This photograph was created during my recent trip to New York.  I pretty much had my camera on me the entire time and took of anything that struck my fancy.  For this particular image, I was so used to seeing people everywhere, it was a change to see no one sitting on this bench.  The 7th Avenue Subway station is probably not the most busy stop, but every other time I was in it, there were people everywhere.

Normally I’d go with black and white with an image like this, but I decided I wanted to give the image a bit of a vintage, old timers look and feel.  I accomplished this by increasing the contrast, decreasing the saturation and adding some green/yellow hue.

I think next time I’d like to catch an elderly man sitting on the bench reading a paper to give the photograph some life.
